Tesla va construi fabrici pentru a retrofita milioane de mașini HW3 care pot face FSD

Există milioane de vehicule Tesla pe drumuri în prezent, care au fost vândute pe baza promisiunii de autonomie totală, dar fără hardware capabil să o ofere. Potrivit electrek.co, CEO-ul Tesla, Elon Musk, a propus recent că compania ar putea construi „microfabrici” în zonele urbane pentru a upgrada computerele și camerele acelor vehicule.

Acest demers ar implica costuri ridicate pentru o companie care se confruntă deja cu probleme de profitabilitate – rămâne de văzut dacă se va și realiza. De-a lungul anilor, Tesla a declarat că fiecare vehicul vândut era dotat cu hardware pentru conducere autonomă completă. În perioada în care acel post era activ pe site-ul său, Tesla a vândut milioane de vehicule cu sisteme de computere numite „hardware 2” și „hardware 3” (HW2 și HW3, pe scurt).

Compania a vândut de asemenea software pe care îl numește „Full Self-Driving” (FSD), pentru până la 15.000 de dolari, promițând că acest software va permite în cele din urmă vehiculului să se conducă singur, fără nicio persoană la bord.
